DIY: Planter Box

This was SUCH a fun project! It was a beautiful springtime day and we had a blast! Marrying a landscaper has its advantages ;)

Start with three 8 ft. wood boards (We used cedar).

1. We cut 3 ft. long sections.

Which leaves you with stacks like this.

4.We then cut the shorter (scrap) boards (above left) into 4 square end sections. (size- you just measure how high your side edges are so that they line up.

Now for assembling!

5. We just nailed the pieces together.

6.Drilled drainage holes in the bottom.

TADA! (Now for the really fun part :D

 7. We added a plastic covering ( we used painters drop cloth- this is to keep the wood dry so that it does not rot), landscape fabric to the bottom, and then potting soil.

*Disclaimer: We have had a little trouble hanging this. We used shelf brackets but they bent under the weight of the soil, etc so they are currently sitting on the floor of our porch until we figure out a better way to hang it... :D

8.  FLOWERS!

Happy Spring!
